Well, here we go again. Another useless blog post. About what you ask? About my life! Why is that so wrong? This is my blog and also, I do some stupid things, often.....very often.Look I understand that a post about just me and my moments of stupidity, isn't that interesting, but just hear me out.
So it was my 20th birthday a couple weeks ago and for my birthday I asked my mum for an Xbox 360. Now, I had already saved up just over $400 bucks myself but my mum offered me $200 to go towards it. I know $600 is a lot of money but, it comes with 31 games?!?!?! How could I not. So, I got it.
It arrived just after my birthday, and when it arrived boy oh boy I can not tell you the feeling of getting a parcel that big in the mail. It was beautiful. When I opened the glorious parcel I wasn't prepared for the overwhelming amount of games... I felt like an EB Games store. The green cases shone bright like plastic Emeralds, my pirate's treasure. Before this I had been playing World of Warcraft, but that was now behind me, I had uni now and I couldn't dedicate my time to it.
My life as an Xbox player has begun. The main games I really wanted were Call of Duty: World at War, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Batman Arkham Asylum. The rest of the games were just bonuses. Now, a couple of days in and I am really living in a gamer's paradise and I decide to get myself an online account because I wanna play with others.
As usual an annoying little update pops up, which I accept, because why shouldn’t my Xbox be up to date, ‘1 hour remaining’...So I leave and come back. Update complete. Perfect, here I come, to join the online gaming community. I put in Call of Duty, because I am ready to shoot some people and a horrible screeching sound starts coming from the disc drive. I panic, a cannot read disc message pops up and the bloody thing can't play the game, so I put in another, and another, the same thing over and over. I stop, I am a young person who knows about this tech stuff...i think my Xbox has been modified… Fuck.
I google it, because that's what you do. Reddit confirms my suspicions. I look at the pile of games that were once plastic Emeralds are now just fakes. I should have known it was too good to be true. I go back to the Ebay page and message them and they say that I shouldn’t have updated it because it has been given an improvement…. An improvement...I’m not opposed to downloading and online pirating, I mean come on, we live in an age where everything is a click away.. Ok I’m drifting. Long story short. Turns out the only real game I had was Batman and now I have a pile of useless discs..(T_T”)
I know it’s not necessarily stupidity, but boy oh boy I felt stupid. Anyway, you live and you learn. Oh also here is an image of me with all my games gloating like a silly pirate who hasn’t realised the treasure is actually cursed….
